I spent a little time tooling around Second Life, three fifteen-minute sessions, and I didn't get out of the tutorial stage. It seems that you have to complete it all in one shot and with the semester winding down, currently don't have the time.
I was surprised that no one thought of naming themselves 'Forgotten Sands' so that is who i am there. I did, accidentally, choose the wrong body type and have no idea how to alter it.
While I was there, I found myself chatting with a Student teacher from Arizona who heard about this site through Will Richards' blog. How cool is that! She got booted from the system before the conversation could progress further.
I'm looking forward to spending a decent chunk of time in Second life, beyond the tutorials. Hope to some of you there.

- I am a non-tradidtional student who was out of academic circles for seven long years. During that time I lived in Indianapolis where I ran a deli in a chain super market called Marsh. Though the work paid well, it wasn't enough to suport me as well as pay tution. So I moved back to home, to take advantage of the state's educational system. By emersing myself in it for as long as possible, which is one of the reason why I want to be a teacher. Currently I live outside of Binghamton and commute three days a week while working. Personality wise, I am considered, laid back, open minded, goofy, and motivated.

Very cool Jo. I was so disappointed you couldn't make the lecture on SL on Fri. afternoon. It totally blew me away. I'm glad you're experimenting with it.

yeah, that lecture was awesome! I plan on blogging about it when I have more time. I took about 5 pages of notes...haha... I havent been able to get into Second Life yet but maybe I can now because we just got our internet fixed at the house. I did create an avatar though, I think her name is Aramea Anatine??? That name you chose is great!!! I'll see if I can find you in the virtual world sometime...maybe after finals are all said and done and all my final papers are turned in.
