I am not going too get cerebral here, but for those who where in attendance I hope there is a shared WOW. I feel that nothing can be added, after the constant reminder:
we are not who we think we are and we are all long to die.
That is the shared thread that outlines the human condition and unites us all. At least that is what I heard with my 'writer ears'

About Me
- Jo Tutko
- I am a non-tradidtional student who was out of academic circles for seven long years. During that time I lived in Indianapolis where I ran a deli in a chain super market called Marsh. Though the work paid well, it wasn't enough to suport me as well as pay tution. So I moved back to home, to take advantage of the state's educational system. By emersing myself in it for as long as possible, which is one of the reason why I want to be a teacher. Currently I live outside of Binghamton and commute three days a week while working. Personality wise, I am considered, laid back, open minded, goofy, and motivated.

I agree; Russell Banks's speech was inspiring and philisophical. It gave me hope as a writer and teacher that I matter in the world and that writing is a way of "explaining the unexplainable." He was great!
Jo, your thoughts are always interesting and sometimes out there, but I really enjoy reading them. You have a unique perspective that I highly value.
I'm glad you went to the lecture Jo. Read his books; they're really good!! Start w/the YA novel, RULE OF THE BONE...
